Here is a fun game I’ve been playing in my head all week: what will Kate Middleton’s Alexander McQueen wedding gown look like? The rumor is just too good to ignore.

This game improves immensely when you look through Sarah Burton’s FW2011 collection for McQueen. While it’s a bit more, shall we say, assertive than the clothes Miss Middleton has been known to wear (though this may hint at an inner wild side…), it’s also jaw-droppingly complex, tailored to perfection and incredibly refined. What more could a future queen want?

So, here are some of my picks for Kate Middleton to walk down the aisle in. Obviously, many of them are patently ridiculous choices for a royal wedding (doubt that she’ll choose to have a butterfly rising from her forehead or anything with a hem shorter than floor-length, for example), but with incredible beauty like this to work from, I also doubt she’ll have trouble finding inspiration.
